Greenville, SC – March 10th, 2019 – Greenville Football Club (Greenville FC) today has announced the addition of three local high school standouts to the 2019 roster.
Conor Dowler, Hayden Anderson and Robert Bailey were identified at the clubs open tryouts and have been selected to join the club for the upcoming 2019 NPSL Season.
“We are delighted to be able to offer these young and promising local players the opportunity to develop with the club this summer,” said Greenville FC head coach, Lee Squires. “To set the club up for success in the years to come we need to have a long-term vision in mind, and these three players are promising for us. The goal is to expose these players to a high intensity environment so two or three years down the road they are standouts in the league.”
Conor Dowler, a midfielder from Anderson, South Carolina, is set to graduate from T.L. Hanna in 2020. Conor currently plays for Carolina Elite Soccer Academy (CESA) and is a member of the South Region ODP Team. He has committed to play at Furman University and will be a member of the class of 2024.
Hayden Anderson, a defender from Piedmont, South Carolina, is set to graduate from Woodmont High School in 2019. Hayden is currently a member of the Carolina Elite Soccer Academy (CESA) and is a member of the South Region ODP Team. He has committed to play at USC Upstate and will be a member of the class of 2023.
Robert Bailey, a goalkeeper from Spartanburg, South Carolina, is set to graduate from Spartanburg Christian Academy in 2019. Robert is currently a member of the Carolina Elite Soccer Academy (CESA) and is set to join his teammate Hayden at USC Upstate in the class of 2023.
“This is ideal for us as a club,” said club executive, Richard Carrizales. “We feel it’s extremely important to find and develop young local players; with Conor, Hayden and Robert joining us for the upcoming season it will give them an early taste as to the speed and intensity of the league. The physical ability will come, but what we saw in these three was great football IQ and a sense of maturity both on and off the pitch. We look forward to their further development with the club.”
